The new single? ‘Tis. Premiered at the Ultra Music festival over the weekend, and released today in Sweden, ‘Peanut Butter Jelly’ is the new single of Swedish duo Galantis – Christian “Bloodshy” Karlsson of Miike Snow, and Linus Eklöw aka Style of Eye.
Not the UK yet though? No. The UK still haven’t even had ‘Runaway (U & I)‘ yet – that gets released in Britain next month. And ‘Peanut Butter Jelly’ may not even follow ‘Runaway (U & I) – as ‘Gold Dust’ was the single that followed in Sweden a couple of months ago.
‘Gold Dust’? This is getting confusing. The beauty of staggered releases through different territories, ladies and gents. In fairness though, in this instance it actually looks like ‘Runaway (U & I)’ will end up being a massive hit for Galantis in the UK. So it’s worked. This time.
So what are the two new songs like? ‘Peanut Butter Jelly’ is a bonkers n’ brill disco house track that’s big on the brass, and achieves the impressive feat of not sounding like any other dance track in the charts at the moment. ‘Gold Dust’ has more in common with ‘Runaway (U & I), although not as amazing. But then we genuinely don’t think that any dance track in the last 12 months has been as amazing as ‘Runaway (U & I).
This is shaping up to be a pretty awesome album. There IS an album on the way, right? There is. ‘Pharmacy’ is their debut album, and will be released on June 6th. Fuck knows in which territories though!
