Roxette are back!

New single ’She’s Got Nothing On (But The Radio)’ is released in Sweden next week, but you can listen to it below.

Online feedback has been mixed. Some have voiced disappointment, others have said that it sounds like a Per Gessle single, rather than a Roxette song, saying that Marie should have had more vocals. As for us, well we just think it’s a good song really! Yes, more Marie would have been nice, but there’s a whole album (‘Charm School’) to come for that.

The biggest feeling we have about it is how similar it sounds to a Xenomania production. Musically, this song could have been lifted from any of Girls Aloud’s albums. Roxette fans may recoil at that comparison, but we think it’s a huge compliment. Retro guitars and huge drum beats are mixed up in a pop mould, and it gives the song a sugar coating that would make any pill easier to swallow. Melody wise, the chorus is very Roxette – soaring and anthemic. It’s good to have them back. And even though we don’t think there’ll be anything as amazing as the Almighty remix of ‘Stars’ on their new album, we’re still looking forward to it a lot. Another ‘I Wish I Could Fly’ would be great too!
