Why on EARTH is this only languishing outside the top 20 in the UK midweeks charts?
This song flopping is too scary a thought to imagine. Radio 1 A-Listed it for 2 weeks, after a further 3 weeks on B-List. If this doesn’t go top 10, they’ll be less likely to support scandipop releases in the future – that’s just the way they work. ‘Can’t Get Over’ by September failing to make the top 10 earlier this year after A-List support from them was bad enough. If another one lets them down, they may draw the assumption that the UK just doesn’t like scandipop, and thus won’t playlist future releases from the likes of Gathania, and they might even neglect to take on new songs from September, Agnes etc. Which doesn’t really bear thinking about.
On top of that, the boom of UK labels signing scandipop hits might just end a bit sooner that we all would have liked.
