This weekend, the first heat of Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix takes place. And NRK have uploaded 30 second clips to their website this morning.
The overall quality is quite disappointing unfortunately. Out of seven songs, there are only three that we have any desire to hear in full. Carina Dahl’s ‘Guns & Boys’ is our early favourite based on the clips. It’s got a big pop chorus – always a surefire way to win us over! Helene Bøksle’s ‘Vardlokk’ sounds like it’s gonna be a big number – sort of like Secret Garden’s ‘Nocturne’ meets Lord of The Rings! And finally Sichelle’s ‘Trenger Mer’ is another pop track, big on the synths and the beats. It’s difficult to tell how good these songs will be based on only 30 seconds, but it’s these three that we’re liking so far.
The other four however, sound HORRENDOUS! But you can listen to all seven here.
