NEO is BACK with a brand new single, ‘Underground’!
It’s his first since his memorable Melodifestivalen debut last year, which saw his song ‘Human Frontier’ reach the second chance round and become a fan favourite. Who can forget that cane?! That grin? That Joker-esque suave?!
‘Underground’ is a HUGE departure from anything on his debut album ‘One’ (later repackaged as ‘Human Frontier’, in the wake of his Melodifestivalen success). For this single at least, gone are the bright and bouncy pop melodies, and in their place is a dark and brooding electro rock ballad. His falsetto vocals that were previously used in a similar style to Mika’s, signing about space travel and night time dancing, are now being concentrated into a tortured love song about being taken underground. We’ll need to wait for his new album to see if this is a complete change of style for NEO, but we like what we hear so far with ‘Underground’. This new maturity to his voice certainly suits him.
