Over the last two days we’ve sat through all three dress rehearsal of the second semi final, which goes live tonight. After an impressively staged first semi final, and an even more impressive set of results, spirits and expectations were as high as each other!
Scandinavia is represented by Norway and Denmark. Both are widely expected to make the final, with Norway having been the bookies favourite to win the whole contest for the past two months. Their rehearsals have looked great. Alexander Rybek from Norway is very charismatic on stage and on screen. There are three energetic dancers backing him, two blonde haired, blue eyed, hot treat girls as backing vocalists, and Alexander sticks to the same performance formula that saw him easily win Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix. Niels Brinck from Denmark puts in a great performance too. Very engaging, great vocal, and the whole arena was whipped up by the anthemic feel of the song. We spoke to him yesterday and asked if there were any hard feelings between himself and Hera Bjork. Hera sang the amazing ‘Someday’ which lost out to Brinck’s song ‘Believe Again’ in the Danish national final, but she’s also in Moscow at the moment as she’s a backing vocalist for Iceland. He said the two of them were good friends though!
Here’s a few pictures from their rehearsals…..
