Yesterday we went along to the Stockholm leg of the Rix FM festival tour. The Ark, Tove Styrke, Martin Stenmarck, Loreen, Mohombi, and Andreas Johnson were all performing – as was a one Mr Eric Saade – his homecoming performance after his huge success at Eurovision.
Not only was it his first performance post-Eurovision though, it was also the first time he performed his brand new single, ‘Hearts In The Air’. He was joined by rapper J-Son, who guests on the track.
And the result?
IT’S GOOD! The track was performed with a live band, so of course it’s probably going to sound very different in its finished studio recording. But based on the live performance we saw, we liked it. It’s very different to anything he’s done before – like a cross between Black Eyed Peas’ ‘I Gotta Feelin’ and Blue’s ‘I Can’. Definitely very catchy and radio friendly. And given that Eric premiered it at the Rix FM festival, they’re probably going to give it a few plays in return this summer, which will help it along its way to becoming a hit for him.
Needless to say, there was a sea of teenage girls there, and a few of them made attempts to film the performance on their phones. So you can peruse some of the dubious footage here, here, here, here, and here (in descending levels of quality!).
Eric films the video for the single this week, and it’s released in early June.
