News a few months back of a duet between sisters Dannii and Kylie Minogue was met with much excitement from pop fans EVERYWHERE! Finally they’ve got together to record a new track – it’ll obviously be a club stormer sounding like a cross between Dannii circa ‘Neon Nights’ and Kylie circa ‘Fever’. Obviously. Then came the revelation that it would be a cover version of an Abba track. Not just any Abba track though – ‘The Winner Takes It All’ – universally regarded as the most difficult Abba song to sing. And that news was met with cries of horror.
However, it’s finally surfaced and is actually really REALLY good! The most outstanding element of their version though, isn’t their voices (somewhat unsurprisingly), but the soaring, sweeping orchestra that plays throughout the song – over a dance beat. There will be the purists who claim that it takes away from the original or rapes the sentiment – but we’re not going to listen to them. What’s been delivered is an absolutely fantastic, camp, beautiful and fun version of one of the best songs ever written. And we’re going to enjoy it thank you very much!
