Dance from Denmark…

Earlier on in the year, Denmark was home to a massive dance hit that took over both the clubs and the sales charts (in fact it’s still in the top 20 there after 18 weeks on release). It’s ‘Turn The Lights Off’, it’s by Kato, and it’s what we believe is called in the business, LARGE! So large in fact that it’s crossing over to a worldwide release. As well as being picked up in France and Russia, it’s also been nabbed by legendary dance labels, Central Station in Australia, and Blanco Y Negro in Spain. Both labels are respected enough that anything they sign earns guaranteed attention in that country.

The song is a cracking dance tune. A commercial house beat, an anthemic melody sung by a male vocal, and a bassline turned all the way up. It reminds us a lot of the UK’s Ultrabeat, of ‘Pretty Green Eyes’ fame. Oh, did we mention it was BIG?! Actually, the opening line of the chorus is also quite similar to the melody of the words ”release me” in…erm…’Release Me’ by Agnes.

There’s been a video shot for the song in Denmark, but a new one is in the works for the international release. And when you watch the Danish video, you’ll see why. You’ll view the video as being either highly amusing, or very strange. We haven’t quite decided which side of the fence we’re on yet though!
