They’re currently out on a tour of Sweden performing a great big schlager show together – and so Magnus Carlsson & Linda Bengtzing have done the sensible thing and released an album to accompany the occasion. And we’re very grateful that they have. ‘En Jäkla Massa Schlager’ is made up of new versions of some of their own Melodifestivalen entries, cover versions of some of their favourite Melfest tunes, and even original demo recordings of Mello hits that ended up being performed by other artists in the competition. Really, it’s a great big celebration of Melodifestivalen in general, and who doesn’t want that? Who doesn’t want to hear Magnus Carlsson’s version of Jenny Silver’s ‘Something In Your Eyes’ or Linda Bengtzing trill her way through Alcazar’s ‘Headlines’? Exactly – it’s really what we’re all here for at the end of the day.
