Gnucci Banana is back!
After last year’s utterly mental, but undeniably amazing cover of Miike Snow’s ‘Animal’, Ana Raab has returned with new track ‘Famalam Jam’. And if ‘Animal’ was the perfect introduction to her idiosyncrasies, then ‘Famalam Jam’ cements the tone of what she’s about and what’s to come from this really quite exciting musical mission that she’s embarking on.
It’s a little bit like M.I.A. – after a few happy pills and the adoption of a more lighthearted attitude. Dancehall with a shameless nod to pop. It’s quite cool in that it blatantly wants to have approval from the young kids just as much as it wants to appeal to a more discerning, grown up listener. And we like that free-for-all feeling of fun. As for the track itself, it’s good. Hugely WTF on first listen, but ever so enjoyable upon the second play.
