There are mere hours to go until the kick-off of Melodifestivalen 2019, and the six weeks of ludicrous sparkle and fanfare that will follow – all in the name of Sweden getting to show off their pop chops to the rest of the world.
We all see the exceptionally produced, brilliantly polished, and unfeasibly entertaining 90-minute show play out on TV. But just what must it look like backstage around all of the artists and hosts?
Well, we’ve got some insight for you.
The iconic photographer Magnus Ragnvid (if you’ve ever had a Swedish pop fave – from the nineties all the way through to today – then he’s probably shot them) has been milling about backstage for the last 24 hours. As you would hope and expect, he’s had his third eye (though in his case, by now, most likely his first and foremost eye) with him as he wanders from stage to dressing room, snapping away at what he finds. And he’s sharing some of the great stuff he’s seen with Scandipop readers. What a dude.
So if you’ve ever wondered just what it might look like backstage at Melodifestivalen during the 24 hours leading up to the live show – well just take a look at this gorgeous selection of pics;
