Josef Johansson this week follows up his Melodifestivalen 2014 entry ‘Hela Natten’. It’s called ‘Blickar Kan Mörda’ (Looks Can Kill) and you can listen to it below, ahead of its release tomorrow.
It’s quite different to both of his previous releases, ‘Hela Natten’ and ‘Baby Baby’. ‘Blickar Kan Mörda’ finds him getting all synthpopped up. It’s a bit of a headfuck (a pleasant one) at first, not really knowing what direction it’s going in. But once the second chorus rolls around and drops, it all becomes a lot clearer where this song’s head is at. It’s the first time we’re hearing him do uptempo, but he does it stringtastically well. The impending first album or EP could well be sounding very different to what we had expected it to.
Josef wrote the song himself, along with Swedish pop legend Orup and Fredrik Sonefors. Sonefors was also on production duties, easing Josef into his new sound.
