We wrote a couple of months back how we hoped that ‘Halmstad’ would be the next single to be taken from Linnea Henriksson’s ‘Du Söker Bråk, Jag Kräver Dans’ album. And what a wonderful turn of fate we have here – ‘Halmstad’ IS the new single. With a video having being shot last week, and the song already receiving heavy support from P3 Radio in Sweden. Marvellous.
Why do we love it so? For it is an infectiously jovial piece of pop music, dressed up stylishly in a cooler air of electro influenced indie – for that is what the likes of P3 Radio desire right now. But while it serves its ‘cred’ requirements, it doesn’t compromise on its large pop sensibilities. It’s just so joyful. A veritable lark of a song. And we like the cheeky trumpets that herald the start of the song – which then goes straight into the vocal riff that later forms the anchor of the chorus.
What’s more, it’s the undisputed highlight of what’s turned out to be one of our favourite albums of the year so far to come from Sweden. So that should give you an idea of how much we like it.
Here’s ‘Halmstad’;
