Swedish/Australian duo Say Lou Lou have today premiered their brand new b-side (to ‘Everything We Touch’). That probably doesn’t sound too exciting, what with it being a b-side and all that. But then when you consider that the last time Say Lou Lou put out a b-side, it was the phenomenal ‘Beloved’ – well you just have to sit up and take note when these two present another b-side of theirs.
The song is ‘Peppermint’ and it’s another devastatingly beautiful (they coined that one themselves, they did!) example of Say Lou Lou’s now trademark quality. Like ‘Beloved’ was the accompanying ballad to the more up-tempo ‘Better In The Dark’, ‘Peppermint’ is a similarly sounding electroballad, to ‘Everything We Touch’s a-side status. It doesn’t quite reach the feat of actually bettering its a-side like ‘Beloved’ did – but then both ‘Beloved’ and ‘Everything We Touch’ are two of the best songs to be released in the last six months, so that was always going to be a tall order.
‘Peppermint’ lays its charms out in a more cinematic way – helped along by the enormously romantic inclusion of some heavy strings and orchestration. The girls uploaded the track to their YouTube page today, to accompany some footage of them in the studio. Listen;
