What’s this? Swedish artist LOVA has released a music video for the big standout track from her new album ‘Grown-ish’ – ‘Dance For The Hell Of It’.
What’s song like? Instantly one of the best things she’s ever done. Balls-to-the-wall, electro-tinged pop-rock that doesn’t hold back. It’s a rollercoaster of a song – but she rides it with flair.
What does LOVA say about the single? “I find myself often at parties wanting the ‘cool’ kids to acknowledge me but they’re too busy caring about themselves. ‘Dance For The Hell of It’ is the realisation their opinion is irrelevant and you’d rather have fun and dance in your own company.”
What’s on the album? Five previously released singles (including the Scandipop faves ‘Black Converse‘ and ‘One Day Left‘) and four new tracks – one of which is the new single.
Other highlights from the album? We’re also heavily enamoured with the defiant heart-break melody of ‘Sleep Forever’, which builds nicely into the perfect album-closer.
What does LOVA say about the album? “For the first time, I wrote for myself. I asked myself ‘what are people going through?’ I wanted it to be very much like a diary and very personal. It was therapeutic for me, and the title resonated with where I am in my life. It’s a way to show every side of me. All of the songs are creating the story, but the album is also what made the songs. I’m excited to be able to go back to it in ten years and reminisce how I felt during this time.”
