This weekend sees the legendary Alcazar lot wrap-up their latest residency period in Stockholm. Performing to another packed out crowd of people who are ALL up on their feet within 45 minutes (we know – we went last November). As incredible as their tunes have been over the last fifteen (Christ!) years, that’s probably our favourite thing about Alcazar – their ability to put on an engaging show.

As pop fans we all like to know that the people up there performing the songs we like so much, are loving the whole thing too. And that’s what has always shone through whenever Alcazar have been on stage – in any of their line-ups – that they enjoy what they do so much. There’s no irony, there’s no “urgh – can I just fast forward when I’m making more mature music already”, and there’s not even a sense that they’d rather be at home with their feet up than doing yet another corporate gig. Instead, for whatever length of time they’re on stage – be it a three minute Sommarkrysset performance or a ninety minute residency show – they’re up there having the time of their lives. AND convincing you and us that we should therefore be having the time of our lives too. All helped along of course by the fact that their tunes are stellar.

In short – they’re an absolute joy. And especially in a live setting.

To mark the end of their residency, and to be completely honest with you – for something good to watch with a bottle of wine over the weekend, we’ve put together something special. No less than twenty six iconic Alcazar live performances from down through the years, plus as a bonus – their hour long televised Skansen gig last summer. We’ve even included ‘Grillvagn’.

It’s the latest in our Live on Scandipop series. A compilation of all of the live performances that we’ve featured on these pages over the last decade. Although in the case of Alcazar, having been going for so long, some performances from even before we were around.
