Velvet Enemy cover

Well THIS has been a long time coming, hasn’t it? But it’s all cool – Velvet’s back. And she’s still awesome.

Rejuvenated, signed to a new record label (Ninetone Records), and spruced up with a hot new sound (and look!), she’s all set to make her big comeback this week. And that big comeback arrives courtesy of a suitably big song – ‘Enemy’.

It’s such a BANGER, that its chorus is an instrumental rave-up. You weren’t expecting THAT, were you?! She doesn’t let the peak-time dance floor production steal the entire show though, and her own vocal performance on the extended bridge shares the limelight and takes equal billing as the song’s highlight. It’s a bridge that would be considered a chorus in any other song. And actually, style-wise, seems to do the whole Icona Pop thing better than Icona Pop themselves are doing it these days. It’s a world away from what we’ve heard from Velvet before – but still definitely up there with her best.

WELCOME BACK VELVET!

‘Enemy’ was written and produced by Front of House – Linus Eklöw (who incidentally co-wrote ‘I Love It’ for Icona Pop) and Joakim Jarly.

It came out yesterday via Ninetone Records. Just in Sweden to begin with, and then a worldwide release will follow.

Here’s the full thing via YouTube for now though;
