Nina Persson out of The Cardigans is gearing up to release the best single to be taken from her debut solo album ‘Animal Heart’ so far. She’s going with ‘Food For The Beast’.
It’s the best for a number of reasons. Namely because it suits our tastes a lot more than its predecessors. It’s a lot more pop orientated number, that actually sounds more like The Cardigans than anything she’s ever done without them. The chorus is a catchy young thing, and the accompanying production is quite…..frivolous. Basically it’s the sound of Nina Persson having a lot more fun than we’ve heard her having for a long time. And therein lies its charm.
The video is also giving us precisely what we want. She’s behaving very camp in it. And it has a disco ball. We’re sold.
Stereogum had the premiere of the video yesterday. Here it is today;
