We’ve already written about our surprised delight that Whigfield has made a belated return to releasing very good pop songs, with this summer’s ‘C’est Cool’. And she evidently sees this as one of her best tracks for quite some time too, as she’s gone and made a video for it.
We don’t know if it’s accidental or a respectful homage – but the whole getting made-up in the mirror thing that first made her famous back in the early 90’s with the ‘Saturday Night’ video, has returned in the ‘C’est Cool’. Although whereas before, it was young Whigfield doing her own make-up and prep for a night out, this time it’s a team of stylists plastering on her slap. And given that almost twenty years have passed since that first vid, it’s understandable that there’s considerably more slap being piled on this time around! What hasn’t changed though is that she still looks exceedingly fabulous – if a little Kate Ryan’s (young) Mother in places!
Bizarrely, the video finishes with the screenshots of THAT promo image being touched up on a Mac. That is, the background, the scenery, and pretty much everything but her face being altered…….perhaps there’s a point attempting to be proved there.
