Last week we went along to a Sonja Alden gig in Stockholm. It was a little bit different to the type of gigs we normally go to, as it was an acoustic set in a tiny, intimate venue. And we loved it! Acoustic versions of some of her hits, her new single, and some cover versions too. We’ve always loved her voice on record, and it really lent itself well to the stripped back, unforgiving delivery of the songs. Mostly beautiful, sometimes stunning, and she made it all look so easy too!
‘För Att Du Finns’ opened the show, and was one of our favourites of the night. Incidentally, it was named this week as the most played Melodifestivalen song of the noughties on Swedish radio. She performed her new single ‘Innan Jag Släcker Lampan’ and we officially LOVE it now! And as well as doing some of her own tracks, she performed two special cover versions – Swedish versions of ‘Songbird’ by Eva Cassidy, and ‘Don’t Know Why’ by Norah Jones. But the highlight of our night was when she was joined on stage by Shirley Clamp for a gorgeous rendition of ‘Du är Allt’!
Some kind soul recorded her performance of the new single last week, and has uploaded it to youtube;
