Danish synthpop outfit Neon Capital is out with a brand-new album – the suitably titled ‘1985’. It’s a collection of their best work to date, plus some new music thrown into the mix too. And on it, there’s a nice surprise – for us, and for longtime readers of Scandipop! Ten years ago, in 2013, we raved about the new single from Electric Lady Lab – ‘Open Doors’. Well now it’s been covered by Neon Capital. Or should we say remade – given that Neon Capital is one half of Electric Lady Lab, and the other half provides vocals here too. Anyway, it’s a supreme new version of the song, which takes it deeper into the ’80s. The instrumental chorus holds more power here than before, which is a no-brainer bonus. And an extra vocal performance towards the end, which was pretty much relegated to background status in the original, has been pushed to the fore here, giving the song something of a blockbuster plot twist. A blockbuster straight out of the ’80s, of course.
