Last night in Sweden, to commemorate 50 years since ABBA won the Eurovision Song Contest with ‘Waterloo’, SVT aired En fest för ABBA – a two hour show in which lots of Swedish artists came along to perform their own versions of the ABBA classics (and it’s streaming on SVTPlay now). Molly Sandén was one of them, and she picked one of their bigger bangers to take on – ‘Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)’. You can watch her performance right here, but she’s also had the good grace to go and release it too! Leaning into the bombastic bassline we all know and love, it’s an ice-cool electro imagining of the song, and actually stands quite well alongside her own recent single ‘Hålla Mig‘.
