Say what? She’s back! Lena Philipsson this evening releases her brand new single ‘Jag Är Ingen Älskling’, straight after performing it on TV for the first time tonight. Yes. New music. From Qeena Ph.
What’s the song like? A hugely melodic pop track with a delicious injection of drama (the title translates as ‘I Am No Darling’, and the tune doesn’t fuck about either). Production wise, it’s stringtastic (always a winner), with some slight flavours of retro kitsch. We loved the chorus on first listen. Like, properly loved. The middle eight is also something quite special.

Will there be more new music soon? A whole album’s worth will be released on September 25th. It’ll also be called ‘Jag Är Ingen Älskling’, and it has Anders Hansson (Agnes, Alcazar) on production duties.
Awesome. And you can watch the performance from Skansen below too. She performs most of it sitting at the piano, but OBVIOUSLY the high-point is when she gets up and starts strutting around the stage. The bit where she starts the final chorus, triumphantly stating her defiant words, and with that iconic Stockholm backdrop behind her – WOW.
