The new single? Maybe. After the ‘Emergency’ single turned into their biggest hit in their native Sweden for years, Icona Pop have announced the three track ‘Emergency’ EP. Featuring ‘Emergency’ (obviously), ‘Clap Snap’, and this song that they premiered on Pitchfork yesterday – ‘First Time’.
What’s it like? VERY good. It’s got that trademark shouty Icona Pop vocal, a throbbing electro beat, and a kitsch layer of brass and retro rock over the top of it all.
What do they say about it? “The song has a whole new meaning to it now, looking back and reflecting on how far we’ve come since those early days when we were broke and didn’t have a clue what we were doing or where we were going”.
