What’s this?! The first single to be taken from the soundtrack of a massive new musical in Sweden – Livet är en schlager. Helen Sjöholm and Peter Jöback, two of the leads in the production, duet on a song from the show, called ‘När Jag Faller’.
Livet är en schlager sounds familiar. It’s a cult Swedish film from 2000, written by Jonas Gardell (and with a scene stealing star turn by Regina Lund!). What’s exciting about the musical version is that Jonas Gardell is back on board as a writer – but with music from the brilliant Fredrik Kempe. The storyline is centred around Melodifestivalen. WE KNOW, RIGHT!
And what’s ‘När Jag Faller’ like? A melodic ballad that sounds like it’s going to be a center-piece of the show. It’s gorgeous and all that, but we’re GAGGING to hear the actual schlager. The Regina Lund moment!
When’s the whole soundtrack gonna be out? At the end of January. The musical itself opens around then too.
