A week on Saturday, the Finns will choose their entry to the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest. And they’ve got these ten to pick from. One of the standouts of the bunch – for a number of reasons – is this absolute treat from Günther & D’Sanz. Günther is a Swedish novelty Eurodance act from the noughties, who already tried to represent Sweden at ESC in 2006. Quite why he’s been resurrected now, is beyond us. But eleven years later, here we are. He’s brought along Spanish artist D’Sanz, who has presumably experienced a bit of a career lull in recent years, and so bewilderingly finds himself in this rather strange situation, and doing the donkey’s work of the vocals. Anyway – putting aside the group’s aesthetic and sheer existence, what we have them bringing to the table is a massively enjoyable song. It’s a shamelessy jubilant pop offering that crosses Eurodance with Scandischlager – and even manages to provide us with a key change. And as if the whole package weren’t ridiculous enough as it is, the lyrics are an ode to having a wank.
