Just a few months ago she was crowned as the winner of the inaugural series of SVT’s Drag Race Sverige – and now Admira Thunderpussy is out with her debut single, ‘Ave Admira’. The song sounds like a cross-breed between two of our absolute favourite genres of tune: the breakout number of a camp musical theatre production, usually reserved for the villainess of the piece; and those lovingly produced parodies of the schlager queens of the ’00s. Admira hits the nail on the head with aplomb for both styles of show tune, while simultaneously (and quite literally, lyrically speaking) serving us an introduction to her own craft as a drag performer. More please! If SVT don’t reward her with a slot on another big TV competition of theirs next spring, well that’s an enormous oversight on their part.
