David Lindgren is back with a new single that he’s just released. Albeit it this time it’s a bit of a novelty track. He’s gotten together with Skellefteå’s hockey team to record and release ‘Vi Gör Det Igen’. And already it’s reached the upper end of the Swedish iTunes chart.
It’s two parts typical David Lindgren song and two parts generic sporting anthem. A synth dancepop track paired with a chanty chorus that straight men from the North of Sweden can attempt to sing after a few too many bottles of beer. Job done.
Not David Lindgren’s finest moment, by any means. But given that he couldn’t exactly return to Melodifestivalen for a third year in a row, this is a suitably high profile stopgap until he does make his comeback. And actually, we do sorta like it. Hmmm.
