This has been giving us LIFE for the past 24 hours, since it was uploaded to YouTube. The new single and video from Danish singer Silje Svea – ‘Sober Heart’.
It’s a 90s flavoured, downbeat electro track. One which doesn’t allow the synth work to take over the song though, and so it’s Silje’s vocal and melody which is the show stealer here. Both are actually quite reminiscent of Sarah McLachlan’s turn on Delirium’s ‘Silence’, in parts. But ‘Sober Heart’ is enough of a stunner in its own right, to stand out from any comparisons. And we’re a little bit in love with it already.
We know sweet F all about this Silje lady. There are a couple of other songs by her on Swedish Spotify, although it doesn’t look like ‘Sober Heart’ has been released outside of Denmark yet. So perhaps ‘they’ have bigger plans in mind for this release. We should bloody hope so anyway – territory restricting it like that!
