Party loving popstrel, Sibel, dropped into the Efter Tio studios this morning to perform her current single, ‘Wake Up’.
You can read our full thoughts on the song here, but now let’s talk about the performance! She completely transformed the song from an electro number into a soft piano ballad. This is nothing new on Swedish TV recently, and it seems that pretty much every popstar worth their salt goes down the acoustic route in an effort to show off their vocals on live TV. However, with Sibel’s ‘Wake Up’, it worked really REALLY well. The lyrics lend themselves excellently to the ballad version, and we’re left with a really rather sad love song which was delivered perfectly by an innocent Sibel. (“butter wouldn’t melt…” etc etc!)
On top of singing, she also actually played the piano throughout, giving the acoustic performance even more of an authenticity. It’s like she’s gone right back to her ‘Diving Belle’ days isn’t it?!
