If you’re one of the many people who’ll be heading to Stockholm this week for the Melodifestivalen final, then you’ll want to be soaking up as much seasonal schlager as possible – and that doesn’t just mean going to the actual event on Saturday night. Every year, there’s always a few things going on in and around Stockholm. Gigs, signings, and club nights. And we’ve already had lots of emails, tweets, and messages on Facebook, asking what exactly is going to be happening. So we’ve said that we’d do a post about all of them on here. And here it is.

WEDNESDAY
If you’re an early bird getting here on the Wednesday or before – good on you!
On Wednesday evening there’s the weekly club night that takes place in Kollingsborg in Slussen (the same venue as Paradise). This week, the gentleman behind this very website, Karl Batterbee, will be DJ-ing there. So you already know the music is going to be fabulous – since you’re on this page here and now!
Entrance is free, and it’s from 11pm until 3am.
And yes – we take requests.
Facebook event page is here.
THURSDAY
Normally on the Thursday there are signings and performances from some of the Melodifestivalen artists at Hötorget Shopping Centre as well. However, this year it appears that there are none. Last year they were quite late in announcing them though, so it wouldn’t do any harm to go there and check on the Thursday anyway. It’s located in the city centre – at Hötorget t-bana station which is just one stop away from T-Centralen.
As for the nightlife, well Golden Hits is usually a safe bet on the Thursday night before Melodifestivalen. It’s on Kungsgatan, and the nearest t-bana station is also Hötorget.
FRIDAY
Globen shopping centre have already confirmed that they’ll be hosting signings and performances from the Melodifestivalen artists – those that are in the final, and those that have already left the competition.
This will all be taking place between 11.45am and 7pm.
Already confirmed for the Friday are Molly Sandén, Youngblood, Dynazty, and Dead By April, but there’ll be more artists announced soon. Check the Globen shopping website later this week for more names, and for details on how to get there.
On Friday evening, there’s a special pre-Melodifestivalen party going on – an after work event. From 5pm until 9pm, on the top floor bar of the Clarion Hotel Sign, an extra special line-up of DJ’s will be playing for a schlager loving crowd. Melodifestivalen artist Mimi Oh is playing, along with Icelandic popstar Daniel Oliver, and once again Karl Batterbee from scandipop.co.uk – the line-up is displayed lovingly before your eyes below.
Entrance is free. The Facebook event page is here.
Later that evening, the best bet is Paradise club, at Kollingsborg in Slussen. Three floors of music, with the main floor dedicated to schlager. It’s open from 11pm until 3am, and entrance is 100SEK. On the main floor, Emil Hellman will be playing – aka the legendary Mr Sound Factory. He does some amazing things to spice up the usual schlager anthems – extended versions, mash-ups, and his own remixes. It’s actual schlager ‘Euphoria’!
Paradise’s Facebook page is here.
SATURDAY
Once again Globen shopping centre will be having signings and performances. Today it’s 12 – 6pm. Artists so far confirmed for the Saturday are Sonja Aldén, Youngblood, David Lindgren, Ulrik Munther, Axel Algmark, and Dynazty. But more will be revealed on their website soon.
At 8pm there’s of course THE live Melodifestivalen final in Globen – *scream*!
Afterwards though, you’ve got two options of where to go out;
Kollingsborg in Slussen are hosting their annual MegaMello After-Party. So far Love Generation, Youngblood (who’ll be giving away 100 signed copies of their album) Mimi Oh, and Sandra Dahlberg have been confirmed to perform. It goes on from 11pm until 5am (amazing!).
Check out their Facebook page for more info and for future announcements.
And finally, Clean Group are hosting the above party, featuring performances from Velvet, Andreas Lundstedt, Jenny Silver, Hanna Lindblad, and finalist David Lindgren! It’s from 11.30pm until 5am.
