New Robyn?! Yeah go on, we’ll take that.

Below you can listen to ‘Tell You (Today)’. It’s her cover of the Loose Joints 1983 original, and her contribution to the Arthur Russell tribute compilation album that comes out on October 21st. The album was put together by the Ret Hot organisation, who have been quite prolific in their work in support of AIDS awareness over the past few years in particular. The album is called ‘Master Mix: Red Hot + Arthur Russell’, and features cover versions of songs by the disco legend, who died of AIDS in the early nineties. Scissor Sisters, Hot Chip, Jose Gonzalez, and Arcade Fire’s Richard Reed Parry are some of the other acts involved.

Robyn’s contribution is a frantic and brassy (in both senses) take on the classic disco sound. Every element has been turned up a notch or twelve. And don’t fret – her recognisable vox do finally arrive in time for the second half of the song.
