14 year old Talang Sverige (that’s Sweden’s Got Talent, folks) graduate Rebecka Karlsson has just come out with her first pop offering. It’s ‘Ghost Flower’. And it’s being touted by Stockholm Pride as their first ever “Pride Ung” song. Young Pride? Youth Pride? We’ll be honest here, we don’t really know quite what they’re getting at, or why they’re getting at it in the first place – so let’s just remove the whole Youth Pride aspect from the equation and concentrate on the song itself. Cos otherwise it gets a bit WTF.
The song. It does sound like it’s going to ALL GO OFF into ABSOLUTE BANGER territory as that first verse progresses, but alas – it doesn’t. Instead it treads the line of mid-tempo ballad. But a charmingly sweet one at that. It’s nothing you haven’t heard before. But it’s everything you’d want to hear again.
The last time a young teenage girl crossed over from Talang Sverige, it was Zara Larsson. And we all know what happened there. So with her connection to Talang, and with this new Stockholm Pride gig (which we’re still not really sure about), we would be very surprised if we weren’t to here lots more from Rececka Karlsson in the future.
‘Ghost Flower’ is written and produced by Pokka Jr./Tollbom/Mårtensson. Here’s the vid;
