Flavour of the month for the past 12, September, is finally laying ‘Cry For You’ to rest in the UK and releasing a follow up single. We’re getting a tranced up version of ‘Can’t Get Over’ – which you can preview at her label Hard2Beat’s website, www.hard2beat.com. Can’t Get Over was the first release from her last album in Sweden, ‘Dancing Shoes’ – we always liked it, but felt that it needed a kick up the proverbial arse if it was to be released in the UK. It’s certainly been given that, but it’s still not enough. It just hasn’t got the anthemic sound of many of her other hits. They’ve made the lacklustre chorus sound a lot better but they’ve also taken away whatever it was that made the verses and middle eight sound so great. In fact, somebody on the Hard2Beat comments section eloquently pointed out what was wrong with the song a lot better than we ever could;
‘’this songs pish man git a grip man heer by the way u will be better listening tae fuckin BOYZONE !!! ITS THAT BAD !!’’
Yesterday was the first date of the UK Clubland tour that she’s part headlining. So her target market will be familiar with the track by the time it’s released in early 2009. The rest of Europe is getting the Jonas Von Der Burg remix of ‘Because I Love You’ as the next single, as discussed here last month. The single sleeve is to your right, but as you can see, they’ve simply recycled the cover of her Australian compilation album ‘Gold’. Well those remixes don’t pay for themselves now do they?
