Malena Ernman has started unveiling tracks from her new album, ‘La Voix Du Nord’. As we’ve said before, it’s a 2CD set – one pop/opera album in the style of her massive hit ‘La Voix’, and another album of classical music, the genre she’s made a long career out of. One of the pop songs that she’s released to the media is another collaboration with Fredrik Kempe, a stunning piece of ‘popera’ called ‘Sempre Libera’. An enormous string intro dramatises the song straight away, this turns into a subtle disco beat for the first verse, and then there’s a pause for a second before the chorus makes it self known. And what a chorus it is! The beat gets larger, louder, and is accompanied by an even more impressive vocal than what she turned in for ‘La Voix’! Our favourite bit is the tantalising middle eight where it all goes quiet. A hushed choir sings the melody and you just KNOW that the last chorus is going to erupt into epic proportions. And it does. With a key change!
