This week saw the release of the debut single from a new Danish dancepop duo. Ears and eyes automatically peeled, it goes without saying. These lot are called Neon (sounds promising) and their debut single is ‘Mangler Dig’ (which translates as Missing You).
The song is what can best be described as Danish dance music. And we don’t mean in that it comes from Denmark and that it is performed in the Danish language. There’s a certain kind of sound that the Danes seem to love when producing this kind of music. And ‘Mangler Dig’ has got it in spades. Deep house, with synths that are understated in sound, but collectively contribute to an almighty bass line. Synth music that has just as much in common with electro music as it does with dance music. And obviously we love the lady vocal and pop melody over the top of it. That’s where we come on board.
Neon are Thomas Høgsted and Kiki Bach. Thomas wrote ‘Mangler Dig’ along with Jesper Zar (HIM OUT OF DAZE!!!), who also produced it.
Have a listen;
