Ready yourselves readers – for a pop boy who’s now decided to go all serious on us.
Personally we thought Bjørn Johan Muri had already gone serious enough – and as it happens, released the best song of his career at that – last November with ‘Even A Fool‘. But no, that wasn’t enough. Now he’s decided to change his name (or at least lose two of the three of them), put on a silly voice, and release something totally different.
At first we pretty much hated ‘I Was Somewhere’. It’s that awful voice thing that he’s doing. But once you get past that and allow (a lot of) time for the whole thing to bed in, then it actually turns out to be quite good. Admittedly, pop music shouldn’t have to be hard work. But Bjørn Johan Muri doesn’t want to be pop anymore, and we’re just gonna have to accept that.
What with ‘Even A Fool’ and ‘I Was Somewhere’, we’re looking forward to the album. Although we’re not sure we can put up with 12 tracks of this new voice effect that he’s rocking here. Stop it now, Muri.
‘I Was Somewhere’ is out now, and it’s been released outside of Norway too.
