Swedish synth-soul-pop-stuff is getting a lot of attention in 2014, but what of its Norwegian counterpart? Well the male fronted stuff has seen a lot of success, but the girls have been going by seemingly unnoticed. Newcomer Mimmi Tamba however, is doing her bit to change that.
Mimmi Tamba first found fame on the 2013 series of Stjernekamp on NRK. We think it’s like a Norwegian version of Fame Academy. Her debut album arrives next month, with ‘Glittering Glitter’ the lead single.
‘Glittering Glitter’ might sound like the title of a song that belongs to a whole other genre altogether, but it’s instead the sound of a soulful yet rousing call to arms about the distasteful nature of a superficial society. A bit Florence & The Machine vocally, although much more palatable! Far too short though – we were left wanting a little bit more as the song ground to a halt over ten seconds before the three minute mark.
