Melodifestivalen 2011: Please welcome some guests to scandipop!

Melodifestivalen 2011 is getting close. VERY close! It’s less than two months until it all kicks off. And isn’t it exciting?!

But still – we wanna start getting into it all NOW! And so we are doing just that. We’re getting inside Melodifestivalen 2011 from this week onwards. Right inside. An insider’s view into all of the preperations, the meetings, the discussions, and the plans that go into making a Melodifestivalen performance. And beyond that too.

For the first time ever, scandipop.co.uk is recruiting a guest blogger. Two, to be exact. One blogger will be one of the thirty two artists competing in Melodifestivalen 2011. And the other is one of the songwriters of a song in the contest, plus the manager of the artist who’s singing it. So we’re gonna get the insider’s view from the perspective of the artist, the songwriter, and the manager! They’ll be discussing things not just relating to the performance aspect – like staging ideas, show preperations, costume possibilities etc etc – but also factors relating to the music too, such as the final mastering of the single, getting the track down to three minutes, shooting the artwork, and even recording the album that will be coming out after the show. And all of the madness involved in the huge circus that is Melodifestivalen. You get the picture!

The first Melodifestivalen 2011 guest blogger is a lady who has composed the song, ‘Try Again’ for the contest. The song will be performed by Dilba, whom she is also artist manager of.  Her name is Linda Sonnvik. It’s Linda’s first time in Melodifestivalen as a songwriter, but she knows the contest inside and out, as she’s always been a huge fan. And she’s been writing irresistible pop songs for years too. Her role in everything surrounding the participation and subsequent release of ‘Try Again’ is majorly hands-on. And she’s already got lots to say about it! But we’ll let her introduce herself later this weekend. And there she is to your left, beside yours truly!

And the second Melodifestivalen 2011 guest bloggers are Le Kid – who will compete with their song ‘Oh My God’. Regular readers of this site will already be well aware of them, as we’ve featured their amazingness a lot on here. But they are also new to Melodifestivalen, this will be their first time in the contest. They aren’t new to releasing music though, having already unleashed the pop gems that are ‘Mercy Mercy’ and ‘We Should Go Home Together’ in Sweden this year. And they’re currently working on their debut album. But again, we’ll let them introduce themselves later this week. Be warned though – they’re fucking mental!

That’s all for now!

*TOO EXCITING*
