SVT have announced the latest artist that will compete in Melodifestivalen 2011. Newspapers speculated yesterday, but SVT officially confirmed a few minutes ago, that Eurovision legend Elisabeth Andreassen is the latest star in the line up.
We’re VERY pleased with this announcement. Elisabeth is a schlager legend, and we have full faith that she’s gonna deliver a great performance of a top quality song, be it a ballad or a (is it too much to hope for?!) huge schlager number! She’s competed in Eurovision four times already (winning the whole thing as part of Bobbysocks in 1985), in Melodifestivalen five times, and in the Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix another five times. And she’s had some absolute corkers in there too.
In 2011, she’ll compete with the song ‘Vaken I En Dröm’. It’s been composed by Lars Diedricson, Kristian Wejshag (both who composed Jessica Andersson’s ‘I Did It For Love’ together) along with Calle Kindbom, who has worked on Fame’s ‘Give Me Your Love’ amongst many others. So quite the promising list of composers, we feel.
