Last night saw the Melodifestivalen Webbjoker final take place in Stockholm. We were there for the live show, and watched as Sweden voted for two songs to win a place to compete in Melodifestivalen 2011. And those two songs were ‘Better Or Worse’ by Julia Alvgard and ‘On My Own’ by Jonas Matsson.
The show was an enjoyable affair, despite being quite low budget. It was organised really well, and the process was all very clear and straight forward. There were even some schlager celebs out in force, showing their support. In the end, we were very happy for Julia Alvgard. ‘Better Or Worse’ is a cracking song. Let’s hope they don’t change it too much before Melodifestivalen next year, although it could do with a few small tweaks here and there. As for ‘On My Own’, well we didn’t like that one so much. Especially since it meant that Engla’s ‘Don’t Stop’ didn’t progress any further. ‘Don’t Stop’ was still our favourite of the five – although it’s fair to say that the performance was a complete and utter mess. A cold mess at that, not even a hot one! Needless to say – we loved everything about it!
Below you can watch the winning performances of the two songs through to Melodifestivalen. Although to be honest, we think that SVT should have them taken down from youtube pretty sharpish, as it gives them an unfair advantage over the other 30 songs that haven’t been heard yet, if they’re on youtube until February clocking up thousands of views. So yes – TAKE THEM DOWN, SVT! After scandipop readers have finished watching them, of course!
