Norwegian songstress Maya Vik has just released a cover of Ready For The World’s 80s classic (or Angel City and Lara McAllen’s 00s classic, if you’re our way inclined!) ‘Oh Sheila’. And it’s turned out to be very good.
Maya has been on our radar (albeit belatedly) since her fantastic pop tune from earlier this year ‘On It‘. Do yourself a massive favour if you’ve not already, and listen to it.
Her version of ‘Oh Sheila’ is a subdued and sexy affair. But stays very true to her trademark electrofunk sensibilities. It’s lush, and the type of cover that doesn’t make you want to switch off, even if you love either of the two versions that have come before it. She’s done it all in aid for WiMP Music’s (like Spotify but not as big. Yet.) ‘Forever 80s’ cover album project.
