Marie Serneholt releases her first single in AN ABSOLUTE AGE this week. Ahead of her participation in Melodifestivalen 2012 with ‘Salt & Pepper’, she’s allowing Swedish folk to refamiliarise themselves with the actuality that she is in fact as singer, by releasing a Christmas single.
The single in question is a cover of a Scandinavian yuletide classic – Carola’s ‘Himlen i Min Famn’. Musically, it’s a world away from what we were expecting from her – particularly if you take a look at the cover art for the single in the video clip below! But in the context of the season we’re in, the dark nights we’re having, the thick candles we’re lighting, and the red wine we’re knocking back – we couldn’t be more pleased with with it!
She sounds great on it, and it’s most certainly being added to our scandipop Christmas playlist – a selection of tunes that is already bulging as perilously as Santa’s sack!
