Last Thursday, whilst we were at the Gravitonas gig, another scandipop concert was taking place elsewhere in Stockholm – the regal Lena Philipsson!
We weren’t in attendance of course, but our very good friend Linda was, and she told us all about it the next day. It was a Lena concert with a difference – all of her hits, but performed in newer, different styles. Something for the fans who have seen her many times before, and would welcome a fresh take on the songs. The majority of it was performed with a full orchestra backing. ‘Dansa I Neon’ was given a jazz makeover, ‘Det Gör Ont’ was performed as a huge powerballad, and ‘Yes Sir, I Can Boogie’ was sung by Lena whilst dancing on a piano! She also covered Lady GaGa and Madonna – ‘Bad Romance’ and ‘Like A Virgin’. Wow, can you IMAGINE a Lena version of ‘Bad Romance’?!
She didn’t do any new songs unfortunately, but she did announce that her new album is going to be more dance and electro, and will be released in 2011. When exactly, depends on ”schedules”. We wonder if she’s thinking late March!
Below are some of Linda’s fabulous photos from the night, taken from her blog which you can read here. She was front row!
