So then. A Swedish girlband has returned. Sort of. It’s Kick. They used to be two girls and had limited success around five years ago. But now there’s three girls. And they’re all new – none of the original members are left. So it’s a bit odd to call it a comeback, because essentially it’s not. But then it IS the return of the Kick group. Kind of.
We aren’t going to trouble ourselves too much on the details however, because there is one thing that is much MUCH more important than that. The music. And Christ have Kick delivered on that front. ‘Kör Bara Kör’ is the comeback single and it’s very good indeed.
Shamelessly tailored towards its hope of becoming a “sommarplåga” in Sweden this year. And it thoroughly deserves such status too. It’s joyous pop music! It sounds like the A*Teens moving on from ABBA and attempting to ape Ace of Base instead – but actually sounding like the Vengaboys in the end. And while that description may not make a lot of sense, just look at those reference points and tell us you don’t need THAT in your life. Well ‘Kör Bara Kör’ is very much THAT.
Catchy, trashy, and reggae smashy. This is holiday resort pop that they used to make in the 90s. And we love it.
