And now for something a little different…

There’s a song, or rather a remix of a song, that we’ve been listening to a ridiculous amount of times over the last few days. And it’s just not getting old. In fact, it’s practically setting us into a complete state of euphoria every time!

The song, or rather the remix, is ‘Watch The World Go By’ (Young Galaxy mix) by Johan Agebjörn. It’s the first single to be lifted from the debut album of the Southern Swedish man perhaps most famous for producing Sally Shapiro’s fine audio art. The album, ‘Casablanca Nights’, features his productions and he’s roped in different people to provide vocals and co-producing duties on each of them, including scandipop favourites, Ercola, and the aforementioned Sally. Janne Kask of Swedish group, Lake Heartbeat, contributes the vocal on ‘Watch The World Go By’, and Le Prix co-produces. You can stream the original edit of the song here.

The remix however, is something extra special. It’s got a chorus which is a mixture of a 70’s psychedelia dream sequence, and a modern day electropop anthem. It’s old-skool sensibilities bathed in new-age froth and then dressed up in nu-wave couture. On first listen (and thanks to a misleadingly trudging first verse), it sounds like indie electro twee. But like Little Majorette’s ‘Never Be The Same’ and Firefox AK’s ‘Boom Boom Boom’ before it, the chorus explodes like neon pop fireworks – it’s VERY pop.

For us, it wasn’t a grower, we ‘got’ it straight away. But it’s still managed to sound better with every listen that goes by. Impressive stuff indeed!
