Who are Mahanna? They are a new electropop duo – Ann Chanett Danielsen and Søren Haugaard Pedersen, as their nearest and dearest like to address them by. They come from Tórshavn in the Faroe Islands. Making them only the third Faroese act we’ve featured here in the seven years since Scandipop.co.uk began.
And is this their debut single? The aptly titled ‘Here We Come’ IS their debut single, yes – released at the weekend.
What’s it like? Effing brill! They describe themselves as an electropop duo, and that may well be the case – but ‘Here We Come’ is pure pop. It’s got more in common with Australia’s ‘Sheppard’, or the songs from the most recent One Direction album, than it does with their icy electro Nordic contemporaries. It’s catchy as sin, and joyously uplifting with it.
Tell us something interesting about them. We actually don’t know anything else about them, sorry. All we can say is that you should listen to their first song. It’s a very exciting debut single.
