Right! We’re off to Denmark for a couple of nights and then onto Sweden to attend Heat 4 of Melodifestivalen in Malmo. So there won’t be any uypdates until next week. However, we would like to draw your attention to some journalist reviews of the songs in the final heat – they sound absolutely phenomenal, and we can’t wait to hear and see all of them. So if you weren’t yet convinced of your commitments on Saturday night – the below review should swing it for you. Get onto the svt.se to watch the live broadcast!
Agnes
Really good disco song, sounds just like ‘Young Hearts Run Free’, if you like Agnes you should love this, nice little key change but is going to take an awful lot out of Agnes vocally and they’re not sure she’s up to that.
Star Pilots
‘Eye Of The Tiger’ meets their Summer hit, ‘In The Heat Of The Night’ in one big swirly dance explosion, the press are saying it’s dangerous that they’ve been placed right after Agnes. Good attitude and will definitely be a big Summer hit for them providing it gets a release which I’m sure it will. The press say because they’re not very well known to the masses they’ll be looking at 5th or below.
Susanne Alfvengren
Nice little ballad with some fairly decent lyrics, nothing outstanding which we’ve come to expect from all of the other ballads so far. The verses are almost identical to Queen’s ‘Show Must Go On’. They’re saying she’s got no chance going up against SDF.
Anna & Maria
Tina’s ‘Goldeneye’ meets Duffy with a MASSIVE Schlager chorus! Their voices go together really nicely, Schlagerprofilerna say they wanted to cry when the chorus came it’s THAT good and in their eyes it’s ‘one of the BEST songs EVER to compete in Melodifestivalen’.
Thorleifs
This isn’t in English, despite the title. Completely in Sweden, once again borrowing from the ‘Danseband’ theme, really catchy. Catchy in a ‘Take Me To Your Heaven’ kind of way. People will be dancing for this for years to come and they say it’s IMPOSSIBLE for this to miss the Top 4 come Saturday!
Sarah Dawn Finer
Best ballad ever to compete in Melodifestivalen apparently, the hair on everyone’s necks have stood up. Described as, ‘beautiful’, ‘a GIANT ballad’, ’emotional’, ‘powerful’, ‘magic’ and ‘big’. A definite finalist.
Next 3
Inspired by Daddy Yankee’s 2006 hit, ‘Gasolina’, sung in English and Spanish which is quite obvious really looking at the title of the song. It’s MUCH better than Rigo & The Topaz Sound & Red Fox from last week, surprisingly good but it’s SO going to get lost amongst the rest come Saturday.
Malena Ernman
AMAZING disco-tinged pop from Kempe, verses are accompanied by a disco beat and the chorus is massively danceable and by the time that the key change comes, people will be wetting themselves with excitement and joy.
WOW WOW WOW WOW!
