Here’s the rather fetching new single from Swedish singer Ida Redig.
Ids Redig came to the fore a few years back with a few singles, before singing a deal earlier this year with Sofo Records (Gravitonas, Alex Saidac). Then she released a cover version of the classic ‘Everywhere’. And she also did a song that was used in an advert for Swedish dairy producer Arla. Which was all very nice and all that, but we’ve been waiting for her proper first single with Sofo – which is this. ‘Shout’.
‘Shout’ does a good job of setting her aside from her Swedish female alternative contemporaries. Production wise though, it’s in line with what’s been making everyone fall in love with Ida’s Danish neighbour, MØ. A dramatic intro captivates from the offset, and takes us to Ida’s hushed verses. Hushed possibly to increase the impact of the impending “I’m gonna shout from the top of my lungs now” chorus. Whether intended or not though, it works. And that chorus impacts. And Ida Redig arrives.
